DMCA
Gaming Past is about fixing lag, high ping, packet loss, stutter and low FPS in online games. Every so often, though, someone writes in about something else: a claim that we've used their work without permission.
This page explains how to send us a copyright takedown notice and what happens after you do.
Where to send it
Copyright complaints go to hello@gamingpast.com. That address reaches the person who handles them. Please use it rather than any other contact route on the site, so your notice doesn't sit unread.
What to include
A notice only works if we can act on it. Please include:
The work you own and believe has been copied. A link or a plain description is fine.
The exact URL on Gaming Past where the material appears. If there are several, list them all.
Your name and an email address where we can reply.
A short statement that you believe the use isn't authorised by the copyright owner, their agent, or the law.
A short statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you're the owner of the work or authorised to act for them.
Your signature. A typed one is fine.
What happens next
We read every notice. If it's clear and complete, we remove or disable access to the material and let the person who posted it know where we can.
If something's missing, we'll come back to you rather than guess.
Where it's practical, we may suggest you and the other side sort it out directly. That's often faster than going through us.
If your content was removed
If we removed something you posted and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address: hello@gamingpast.com.
Explain why the material is yours to use, and include your name, contact details and signature. We'll pass it on to the person who complained, and we may restore the material.
Please be straight with us
Takedown notices have real consequences. If you send one for material you don't own, or for something that's clearly allowed — a short quote with credit, a screenshot used to explain a fix — you may be liable for the harm that causes.
Ask yourself whether a court would agree with you before you hit send.
